What Do Adjustable Legs Do on an Aluminium Scaffold?

Published: 2017-03-30 09:53:44 Views:

An adjustable leg on an aluminium scaffold is the fitting that connects the castor to the frame. In use it can be adjusted within a range to suit the actual levelness of the ground, so that the working platform of the scaffold stays level.

Aluminium scaffolds fall into two kinds: those without adjustable legs and those with them.

A scaffold without adjustable legs demands a very level floor, because the levelness of the ground directly affects how stable the erected scaffold is. On uneven ground the operatives on the platform feel the tower sway, and it can easily tip or collapse with very serious consequences. Such a scaffold is also far more sensitive to external forces - wind, rain, load, people walking on the platform - which makes work at height riskier.

Adjustable legs overcome these problems. They place little demand on the ground and let the scaffold reach its most stable working position on whatever terrain is found. YANGST aluminium scaffolds, for example, are fitted with 0.4 m to 0.6 m adjustable legs: operatives can set them anywhere between 0.4 m and 0.6 m to suit the ground until the platform is level, ensuring the stability and safety of the whole tower. YANGST scaffolds can also be erected on steps: adjusting one frame and its adjustable legs at the base is enough to suit a stepped floor, which is very convenient. When buying, choose a scaffold with adjustable legs wherever possible - it is far easier to use.
