How to Pair Diagonal Braces on Aluminium Scaffolding

Diagonal braces are an important component of an aluminium scaffold and directly affect its stability and safety. EN 1004 requires braces or outriggers to be fitted to double-width platforms above 3.2 m platform height.

When fitting the braces, place each footboard position at equal spacing as shown in Figure 2. Adjust the foot fittings and clamps so that the brace contacts the ground firmly. Fit the clamps and couplings in the correct order, and tighten the clamps once the scaffold is in its final position.

When the scaffold is used against a wall, do not remove the braces - lay them parallel to the wall.

When the scaffold is used in a corner, remove the inner braces and lay the outer braces parallel to the wall.
