The Biggest Safety Risk of Mobile Quick-Assembly Aluminium Scaffolds

Published: 2019-01-08 08:47:51 Views:

As safety control and labour costs have risen sharply, the safe, fast mobile aluminium scaffold has spread through the construction market. Because aluminium scaffolding is an imported product and no domestic standard yet covers it, the market carries a wide variety of products, each maker with its own claims about safety and market share.

Against that background, and with safety above all, where does the biggest hazard lie when a mobile aluminium scaffold is used?

Without doubt, the biggest hazard is the tower tipping over while it is being used or moved.

YANGST has decades of manufacturing, design and engineering experience. From the accidents we have examined and our analysis of the hazards, any of the following can lead to a tower tipping:

  1. Uneven ground, with no levelling device used.
  2. Castors not locked, or castors with too much play, so slight movement at the base sets up violent sway higher up and an accident follows.
  3. Diagonal outriggers not tightened as required, with the foot not in firm contact with the ground, so any external force produces slight sliding and the tower loses stability. Use products with a proper full-face foot.
  4. Work above the tower generating lateral force beyond the permitted range, causing loss of stability.
  5. Obstructions under the castors, or overhead beams and cables, not noticed while the scaffold is being moved, so it stops abruptly and tips through inertia.
  6. Failure to allow for wind at all times - towers have been blown over several times in recent years.

Safety responsibility is heavier than a mountain. Every user should study the product instructions and the safety rules, and put a stop to accidents.
